FABRIC

Always try to wear breathable fabrics that wick sweat away from your skin, both for comfort and to ensure some level of protection. Sweatsoaked fabrics may encourage fungal infections, not to mention the chafing…

FEET

Because of the beating they take, your feet tend to have the toughest skin on the body. ‘ Use specific foot moisturisers and treatments to help keep them healthy, and deal with problems quickly by consulting an expert,’ says Johnson & Johnson Skincare Expert Rebecca Bennett.

FACE

‘ Wearing makeup while running may encourage blackheads and spots, as the combination of oil, makeup and sweat can block pores,’ says Bennett. ‘ Be sure to wear sun protection, though, if you’re running outdoors.’

HANDS

‘ Hand hygiene is crucial in mixedexercise environments, such as gyms, and infections may be transferred if you don’t wash your hands thoroughly and often,’ says Bennett. Add a hand sanitiser, too, if you’re concerned – or change gyms!
