Waddesdon Manor Summer 5K
If you do your best running in the pristine gardens of a sumptuous French Renaissance chateau, you’d best find your way to Waddesdon. It was built in the late 19th century for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild as a weekend residence for grand entertaining – and while he served his guest the finest of culinary delights, the man himself apparently dined on cold toast and water. There’s a bit of a hill near the beginning of the course but that hasn’t stopped it being blisteringly quick in recent years, and a mug instead of a medal for finishing is a nicely eccentric touch.
