This heartwarming quote from US author John Holmes perfectly sums up how I feel about rescuing and being rescued during races. I believe good karma isn’t something that happens when you’re reincarnated; it happens the instant you put yourself out to assist another runner. Their gratitude – or just your own satisfaction in knowing you’ve helped someone – is its own reward and will make you smile long after you’ve forgotten your finish time.
