Newport Wales Marathon and 10K

Is it a ferry? Is it a bridge? Is it, perhaps, witchcraft? No, it’s the remarkable Newport Transporter Bridge, one of fewer than 10 of its type still in operation around the world. The excellent news is that both the marathon and the 10K run right up to this amazing structure, and while it is possible to ascend the 177 steps to the vertigo-inducing walkway, it is something you’ll have to do on your own time. Speaking of heights, this is an extremely flat race and the organisers claim that 70 per cent of all finishers claim a PB.
