How long did it take you to fall in love with running?

-

‘It took about three months of chest-burning, hammie-twanging, resentful shuffling three times a week before everything clicked and I got it.’ – Kerry McCarthy

‘I fell for running hard and fast, and I wanted to tell the world about it. Those early months were a bit of a daze, and I’m afraid I bored a lot of people with tales of my newfound passion. But it’s a love that’s stuck. I still get excited thinking about running, and I can’t imagine my life without it.’ – Rick Pearson

‘I still can’t say I’m in love with running, though we’ve been going out for 15 years. I’ve been with a few other sports, but it always feels wrong. Maybe it is love.’ – John Carroll

‘I’ve always enjoyed the way running kept me fit and how it made me feel (losing races on school athletics tracks aside!), but the real, deep love developed later. Now that work and kids and all the stresses of adult midlife mean I need its therapeutic power to keep my head in balance, it has become my true soulmate.’ – Joe Mackie
