CRITICISING COREN
I’ve just read, with dismay, the feature on Giles Coren (I’m a Runner, RW May). His opinions on running are not useful to anyone starting out... and would be looked at with scorn by anyone who actually is a runner. Bad ideas include: run at 1pm on an empty stomach; don’t wear Lycra when it’s cold; brag about how buff you are; don’t wear tech that helps you understand heart rate; advise against drinking water; don’t get fitted for trainers; slag off parkrun. A bad choice and at odds with the more modern and democratic style that
