NEVER TOO OLD TO START
As a 66-year-old runner, I found Sam Murphy’s article on how running beats ageing (Forever Young, RW April) very interesting. I didn’t start running until I was 59 and I really struggled for the first few years. I then joined RunSmart, my local running group, and did their beginners’ course. With the help of the leaders and other members, my running has gradually improved and last year
I ran a couple of 5K PBs. I’ve certainly reaped the benefits of starting running at a later stage in life and hope others are encouraged to do so as well.
