Raise a glass to the conclusion of a Dutch study1 that suggests a daily pint of beer can be ‘healthy’. The researcher­s point to beer’s gut-friendly probiotics as a reason to keep the fridge well stocked. For bonus points, drink Belgian beers, which go through a double-fermentati­on process, as opposed to normal lagers, which are fermented once. Of course, you get the same benefits from other fermented foods and drinks, such as yoghurt and kombucha. And, with alcohol, the positive effects apply only when moderation is observed…
