JANE DAVY Completed an ultra to raise money for a child’s wheelchair
The Spine Race Challenger is a nonstop, 108-mile race along the Pennine Way. Jane Davy took part this year, raising more than £2,500 to help buy an offroad wheelchair for a child with a severe brain injury. Oliver Voysey has sight loss, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and learning difficulties after suffering a brain injury when he was just two days old; the wheelchair will help him to enjoy the countryside. ‘I knew the race would be hard,’ says Jane, ‘but I wasn’t prepared for the hills. The weather was all over the place, too: boiling one minute, freezing and wet the next. But I love the outdoors and want it to be accessible to everybody.’
