Mamores Vertical Kilometre

- Kinlochleven, Argyllshire, September 22, skylinescotland.com

A vertical kilometre is an event with 1,000m of elevation gain in 5K or less. This is the only such event in the UK – primarily because we don’t have very many mountains that can provide such punishing elevation. The terrain doesn’t call for rock-climbing experience – though it’s not easy – so the event is open to anyone who fancies the challenge. But before you enter, consider this: 1,000m is higher than Scafell Pike, higher than three Shards stacked on top of each other, higher, even, than the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
