It’s showtime!

A Cambuslang dance school recently marked its 25th anniversar­y.

The Valda Hunter School of Dance marked its silver celebratio­ns with an outstandin­g show which was held in the Cambuslang Institute.

The summer dance review began with the senior ballet dancers and Broken Sorrow, followed by cheerleadi­ng from the cheer team.

The junior tap dancers moved their fee to I Just Can’t Wait To Be King, and the nursery tap followed with Zia A Dee Do Da.

Freestyle moves came from the frestyle class, then the boys hip hop group let loose to That Power. The Senior Tap were next with Hit Me Up, and the freestyle class danced to True Colours, before the nursery disco performned to Everything is Awesome.

Rounding off the first half of the show was Frozen scene, with the Starlite ballet performing Do You Want To Build A Snowman? and In The Summer, with the junior ballet doing Let It Go.

After the interval, there was a Mary Poppins theme. This began with Eilidh and James Lamb dancing to A Perfect Nanny, with Marry Poppins and the children doing Practicall­y Perfect, while the junior and senior ballet danced to Chim Chim Cheree. The Starlight ballet did Jolly Holiday, the junior tap did Step In Time, while the jursery ballet brought A Spoonful of Sugar to life.

The section was rounded off with the junior tap dancers performing to Supercalif­ragilistic­expialidoc­ious.

After a raffle, the show was brought to a close with Wild from the senior freestyler­s, Bing Bang from the junior freestyle, before Hooked On Classics from the junior and senior ballet. The whole cast performed to Happy, to finish off an outstandin­g show.

Tracey McCue, who runs the school of dance, said: “The show this year was amazing. Pupils performed and smiled from nursery to advanced level with lots of flair and style.

“I am so proud of my pupils and thankful for all their hard work and enthusisam throughout the season.

“This is our 25th year silver dance anniversar­y teaching in Cambuslang. I am very thankful to past and present pupils for attending our school - where has the time gone?

“We’re now ready for the new season starting on Saturdays in Cambuslang Baptist Church.”
