From frumpy to a yummy mummy
A Cambuslang woman is proving to be a huge inspiration after losing almost six stone in 14 months.
Aleksandra Lennon (34) from Cambuslang found that her weight had risen to 17 stone, after giving birth to her daughter Maya.
Originally from Poland, she has lived in Cambuslang for the past 10 years, and took the brave decision to begin her weight loss journey when she joined Carol Downes’ Slimming World group in Rutherglen - and has now lost five stone 10lb.
Aleksandra said: “After I had my daughter, I wanted to be fit for her - and be a yummy mummy!
“As soon as the weight started coming off, it kept me going, to keep losing more. That was motivation, more than anything else.
“At the time, I couldn’t have lived without having a bar of chocolate every other day as it’s very hard to walk by it in the supermarket when you’re on the way out - but now, I’m in control and I can work it in if I want one.”
Leader Carol Downes said: “Aleksandra was my woman of the year and represented the Rutherglen Slimming World group at the West of Scotland district finals. She didn’t win however her achievement of losing five stone 10lbs makes her a winner!
“She wanted to be a yummy mummy instead of a frumpy mummy, and by God, she ain’t frumpy anymore! She has been an inspirational member, she shares her fabulous ideas for cooking new recipes, healthy eating and her work colleagues are totally amazed at how much fantastic food she can eat and still lose weight.
“She plans her meals, changed how she thinks about food and admits slimming world has completely changed her life. She reached her target and still attends group. She’s loving every minute of being at target. She’s now a confident energetic young woman, running and playing with her twoyear-old daughter Maya.”
Aleksandra said: “Carol is amazing, she’s really great and has really encouraged me.
“Now, I feel so much better - I feel that I can do anything.
“I can go to the park and run around after my daughter - it isn’t a problem any more.”
Carol’s group meets in Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Parish Church in Western Avenue, Rutherglen, on Tuesdays at 10am, noon, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
