Rutherglen Old Parish will welcome visitors to their monthly coffee morning on Saturday, September 13, from 10am till noon.

They have been well supported over the summer months by friends and congregati­on are pleased to invite folks to join them for tea/coffee and cakes at the modest cost of £2 per head. Full disabled access and baby changing facilities are available.

St Bride’s Parish Church in Cambuslang has a busy few months ahead.

The church is starting a children’s choir, which will begin on September 17, for youngsters aged from 10-12 years. They will meet from 3.30-5.30pm.

St Bride’s will be holding a movie night with The Lego Movie this Friday (September 5), and entry is £1, with a parish retreat on September 6, from 11am-3pm.

Then on September 14, the church will have a Big Breakfast, with a race night to follow on October 25, a table top sale on November 9, and a family night on November 15. They will celebrate St Andrew’s Night on November 29.

St Bride’s enjoyed a highly successful quiz night, which raised £713 for charity.

Many of the King’s Park Parish Church organisati­ons have begun again after the summer break. Adults groups are as follows:

On Mondays there is the craft cafe at 1.30–3.30pm and the Bible study at 7pm, both in the St Mungo Hall.

On Tuesday mornings at 10am there is the chance to lose a few pounds at fun and fitness, and then put them back on again with the home baking at the weekly coffee morning. The prayer group also meets on a Tuesday morning at 11am in the lounge.

The gents and ladies carpet bowls sections have resumed; the gents play on Tuesdays and the ladies on Thursdays both beginning at 1pm for 1.30 in the Iona Hall.

Children are welcome to come and try a host of activites; on Tuesdays a new youth club, run in partnershi­p with Glasgow Life take spalce in the Lesser Hall from 3.30 to 4.45pm; on Thursdays anyone over the age of six is invited to the karate club - all fitness levels welcome.

On Sundays, morning worship takes place at 11am and 6.30pm. Children enjoy worship both in church and in their own age groups.

Youth groups are back for the new session at Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church.

Any young people who fancy being part of the team have the chance to go along and join in the fun.

In the church hall on Hamilton Road, the Boys Brigade meet: Anchor Boys aged P1-P3, Mondays at 6.30pm; Junior Section aged P4-P6, Thursdays at 7pm; Company Section, aged P7-S6, Fridays at 7.30pm; Pipe band, Thursdays at 7pm.

Guides: Rainbows, age five to seven years, Mondays at 6.30pm; Brownies, age eight to 10 years, Wednesdays at 6.30pm; Guides, age 11 to 16 years, Wednesday at 6.30pm.

At the church on Western Avenue, the Sunday groups have three sections from three to 16 years Sunday, from 11am.

Scouts: Beavers aged six to eight years, Wednesdays at 6.30pm; Cubs, aged eight to 10 Wednesday, 7.30pm;

Scouts and Explorer Scouts aged 10 to 16, Fridays at 7.30pm.

Rutherglen Old Parish is ready to start its new session of kids clubs. Starting tomorrow (Thursday, September 11), the Kool Kids (for P1-P4) will meet from 6.30-7.30pm, while the 745 Club (for P5-P7) will meet from 7.30-8.30pm.

There are games, chats, stories, a tuck shop and craft activities available each week.

Flemington Hallside Church’s Boys Brigade Company has resumed for the new session this week.

The highly-successful 217 Gilbertfie­ld Company are recruiting now, for both boys and adult volunteers.

The Anchor Boys meet each Monday from 6.30-7.30pm, for boys aged five-eight years (P1-P3).

On Tuesdays, the Junior Section meet from 7.30-9pm, for boys aged eight-11 years (P4-7).

And on Fridays, the Company/Senior Section meet from 7.15-10pm. The Company Section is for boys aged 11-15 (S1-3), and the senior section is for boys from 15-18 (S4 and over).

From September 14, Croftfoot Parish will have two Sunday evening services each month at Croftfoot, on the second and fourth Sundays.

A healing service will be held on the first Tuesday of each month, starting on Tuesday, October 7, at 7.30pm.

The church will continue to have the healing hour from 7.30-8.30pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month, starting September 24.

An Alpha course will begin on September 25 through to November 27, for 10 weeks.

Stonelaw Parish Church is holding the Meeting Place every weekday, where visitors can drop in, drink coffee, browse their range of Fairtrade products and choose a secondhand book.

The idea of the Meeting Place is to provide an informal, comfortabl­e location, open to the whole community, for people to drop by.

It is open every Monday to Friday, 10.30am-12.30pm, and also Thursday afternoons 2-4pm and Wednesday evenings 7.30-9.30pm.

Flemington Hallside Church’s community cafe is running two days a week. Based at the church in Hamilton Road, the cafe offers lunches, snacks and drinks.

The cafe is open from noon to 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe is running each week.

It is held in the Kirkhill building hall and the organisers are inviting the local community to go along and enjoy a drink and a tasty snack in warm, comfortabl­e surroundin­gs.

The cafe is open each Wednesday from 10am until noon.

Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s weekly friendship cafe is offering a warm welcome.

The cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon in West and Wardlawhil­l Parish Church in Western Avenue, with children welcome.
