Barry looks for signings

Bully Wee to add two more

- Will Henshaw

Clyde boss Barry Ferguson hopes to add two new players to his squad before the end of the week.

The former Rangers captain has already brought Craig McLeish, Craig Halkett, Euan Smith, Stephen O’Donnell and Andy Gibson into his playing pool, and is looking to add at least one more player before the weekend.

Barry, who was capped 45 times for Scotland, had previously said he was looking for greater squad depth, as well as players who could “handle a bit of pressure”.

And while the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder insists he’s pleased with the current squad depth, he is looking to top it off with a couple more signings.

He told the Reformer this week: “I’ve got that (squad depth) and I’m trying to add another two players and that’ll be seven new players that I’ve brought in in total.

“The squad needed it, we’ll hopefully get one or two players announced by the end of the week.”

The international break put paid to any league action at the weekend, but Barry took the opportunity to hold an extra session on Saturday.

He said: “They’ve been training Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and they were training on Saturday as well. On average we’re about three nights a week now, it’s going well and the players are picking up how I want to play.”

On Saturday the Bully Wee will make the trip to Ochilview Park to take on East Stirling.

Barry insists Clyde will continue their attacking style of play.

He added: “That’s the way I’ve tried to do things since I’ve came in. I knew I had to change something over the last few weeks which I’ve done.

“We’ve got a certain way I want to play and the players want to do the same.

“I’m not going to change a lot, there will be some games when you’ve got to change your tactics.

“We’ll go out and have a go at teams, that’s for sure, we’re not going to sit back.”
