Good response to donor appeal

-

Blood donors have been thanked for their kindness in Croftfoot last week.

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion were in Croftfoot Parish Church, on December 30, from 4-7.30pm.

And they were delighted with the response they had, so close to the New Year celebrations.

Janey Grier from the SNBTS said:“As ever, it was a busy session. We had projected a lot of people would attend, but we actually had 84 people from the area, which was excellent, especially for December 30. Of these, four new donors.

“We collected 71 actual donations, which was a great result - this was the best response at Croftfoot for 18 months, and twice the amount we had this time last year.”

They will return in a couple of months, on March 10, to Rutherglen Town Hall, from 2-3.45pm and from 5.15-7.30pm.

The service will then be at the Cambuslang Institute, Greenlees Road, Wednesday, April 8, from 2pm to 3.45pm and 5.15pm to 7.30pm.

Male donors can give blood every 12 weeks. That’s approximately every three months or four times in a 12 month period.

Female donors can give every 16 weeks or approximately every four months. Most people can give blood.

As long as you are fit and healthy, weigh over seven stone 12 lbs (50kg) and are aged between 17 and 66 (up to 70 if you have given blood before) you should be able to give blood.
