It’s a perfect 10 at Rutherglen Town Hall
Rutherglen Town Hall re-opened to the public a decade ago - and its set to mark it’s 10th birthday with a splash in 2015.
The venue will hold a special celebration featuring 10 shows over 10 nights, starting on February 24.
A varied programme of events will feature music, theatre, comedy, a medium and a special birthday to wrap the 10 day bonanza up. The events all start with internationally renowned medium Joan Charles visiting.
On the following night it’s the always popular Them Beatles who arrive, playing the music of the Fab Four.
Music of a different sort them comes on February 26, when Memphis Belles recreate some classic swing style tunes.
It’s time to laugh on the 27th, with a Best of Scottish show bringing together some of Scotland’s funniest comics, hosted by Bruce Morton.
A smoother evening is in store when the Ultimate Drifters return, having previously provided one of the best party nights the Town Hall has ever seen in 2014.
Rutherglen Rep have always been favourites at the Town Hall, and their latest play takes place on March 1, with Burning Issues, a comedy set around a funeral.
Monday, March 2, brings the Lanarkshire schools brass band to the hall, consisting of 30 tremendously talented youngsters.
There’s then entertainment from a slightly more veteran performer when Scottish performer Dean Park appears on March 3.
He’ll be bringing his brand of comedy, as well as singing favourites from the big bands, Motown, country music and Frank Sinatra.
Finally, the celebrations wrap up with a birthday party.
This great cabaret evening will be hosted by the brilliant Lorraine Summer, a comedienne with the clout to entertain any crowd with her wicked anecdotes, audience participation and excellent vocals
It will also feature the fantastic double act Time of Your Life.
After years of neglect the Town Hall was given a £12.5million upgrade to restore it to its former glory, aided by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The building officially reopened on Friday March 4, 2005, and has become a focal point of the area.
