Glens hit nine in friendly
Willie Harvey was satisfied with the workout his players received in a 9-4 friendly win over amateur side, Arthurlie United last week.
Despite conceding four goals, the Glens gaffer was happy to get everyone a run out with recent league games falling foul to the weather.
Willie said:“It was a decent workout.
“We scored some goals and lost four, but one was five or six yards offside and two were world beaters, and there’s not much you can do about that.
“Everyone got a runout and it keeps us ticking over.”
Jamie Gilmartin started the goal glut when he fired home on 12 minutes and he doubled the lead when he headed home from a corner.
McWilliam pulled one back despite an offside in the build-up but Denis McLaughlin netted from Boal’s cut-back to put Glens two ahead again.
McLaughlin grabbed his second with a half-volley and completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before half-time.
It was 6-1 early in the second half when McNeil fired home. Sturrock pulled one back with a fine effort but two quick goals from Keiran Donaghy and McNeil saw Glens stamp their authority once more.
Naismith then scored from 35 yards for Arthurlie and a bizarre own goal gifted the amateur’s another strike.
The scoring was rounded off with Sean McGuire’s neat chip.
GLENCAIRN: McKechnie, Galloway (Dunnachie), Brown, Dalzell, Russell (Donaghy), McGuire, Ballantyne, Esplin, McLaughlin (McNeil), Gilmartin (Kilmartin), Boal.
