Cambuslang Rugby Club coach Robbie Stewart has revealed a Scotland international player is to join them for training this week.

This Saturday, leaders Cambus will make the long trip up the west coast of Scotland to face Oban Lorne, in a first v second in the table clash.

And ex-Cambus player, and current Scotland cap Jonny Gray, will return to Coats Park to help the boys prepare for the match.

Robbie said:“We had a session on Saturday, to get Christmas and New Year out the system, and this week we’re able to prepare for the game.

“We’re delighted that Jonny Gray has said he’d like to be able to come along and help us in training, which is a massive boost for the boys, who can learn with his input.”

Meanwhile, the coach praised his side for their commitment in their battle for promotion.

In previous encounters, Cambus have struggled to get a side together, but this weekend the players have recognised how important the game is and put other commitments to the side.

Robbie said:“We won’t have a problem this weekend - all the guys we want have made their work and domestic arrangements around this game, so we have the best chance possible.

“When things are going well, you find the guys want to be involved in these games.

“Very often, you’ll find when there are teams who are well matched, and on the day it comes down to individuals. I’ll be impressing that on the guys.”
