Driver cut free after collision
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a man following a collision in Cambuslang last week.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews were sent to the incident on Greenlees Road last Tuesday (April 14) in response to a call from the police made around 5pm.
Operations Control mobilised two appliances from Clydesmill Community Fire Station and crews reached the scene approximately six minutes later.
The incident commander, Watch Manager Danny McLaughlin, said:“The casualty didn’t appear to have sustained physical injuries but the information he gave to paramedics indicated a possible underlying health condition and it was decided he needed to be lifted clear.
“We conducted a full roof removal and he was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for a precautionary check-up.
“Ambulance and police officers were both in attendance throughout and our crews worked closely with them to effect the rescue.”
Richard Samson of Rutherglen Police Office confirmed no one was charged following the incident and said:“It is possible the individual involved in this incident has a medical issue which may be a contributing factor.
They were safely removed and treated at the road side.
“No charges or reports were raised in relation to this incident.”
