Sixteen teams, and one amazing weekend
Sixteenteamswill playovertheweekend atScotstoun, with poolmatches(four poolsof fourteams each) onSaturdayand knock-outroundson Sunday.
Scotlandwill face Fiji, Wales andPortugal in PoolC, with other big names including England, Australia, NewZealand and South Africa all in action over the weekend.
Thisyear’s guest team will beRussia, whowill join the 2015/16HSBCWorld Series, having qualified in HongKong. Each team at the Glasgow7swillhave a squad of 12 players.
There are seven players on the pitch for each team at any one time but they play ona full-sized rugby pitch. It’s fast, it’s furious and it’s full of tries.
All teams play onboth days – roundrobinmatches in groups (or pools) of four on Saturday, followed by knock-out rounds on Sunday.
Even so, each teamis guaranteed at least two games on the second day, because there are four finals to aim for.
Fancy dress is the order of the day and this year it’s a Comic Book theme, so get creative and, if you’re spotted, you mightwin a prize. Whether you’re a fan of a retro favourite such asTheHulk or fancy somethingmore recent like theX-Men, you’ll be right athomein costume.
Sevenshas something for everyone – rugby fans love the action, families will appreciate the friendly atmosphere and groups of mates can hang out in the Party Stand.
There’s plenty to see and do if you need a break from the rugby, with food, bars and space to stretch your legs.
