Learn an exciting new skill
Rutherglen and Cambuslang people are being offered the chance to learn new and interesting skills in a relaxed and friendly environment – free of charge.
A new community project, The Core, has been set up by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Learning and Home School Partnership service.
A variety of activities will be on offer each week from arts and crafts such as jewellery-making, glitter glasses, embroidery, balloon-modelling, sew ’n’save workshops and knitting, to new skills such as beauty therapy, holistic therapies, language-learning, sign language, car maintenance and IT support, to cinema and book clubs and even to life skills such as confidence-building and stressmanagement.
A guest speaker will attend each week giving information and advice on issues such as health, housing, learning and money matters. Anyone who has a skill they would like to share with others is also welcome to let the organisers know.
The Core runs between 10am and 2pm on a Wednesday, from April 29 to June 17 inclusive, and will be held in the Universal Connections building, Burnhill, Rutherglen. A crèche may be available for pre-school children and tea, coffee and light snacks will be provided.
Anyone wishing more information or wanting to book a place in the crèche can contact the Community Learning and Home School Partnership Service on 630 2520.
