Free tennis event at Cambuslang

-

Cambuslang Lawn Tennis Club is hosting a free parent and child tennis event in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association and Highland Spring Water.

The event is open to all adults and children and is a great opportunity to try tennis in a fun and friendly environment. There will be some great prizes to give away to the kids and lots of fun games have been organised.

There will also be other activities such as a bouncy castle and also home baking and refreshments for sale.

The club are also working with local active school co-ordinators and also with South Lanarkshire Council to promote not only tennis in the area but also a sense of fitness and wellbeing which should be an integral part for our local community.

Sohail Shah, the club coach, met Leon Smith the recently victorious GB Davis Cup Team Captain at the Dubai Tennis Championships. His team recently defeated the USA in Glasgow. Still on a high from the victory, Leon said:“Events like these will help promote tennis and fitness in the local area’’.

Sohail added:“I have known Leon from my playing and coaching days at David Lloyd and recently met him along with Jamie and Andy Murray at the Dubai Tennis Championships in February where we had a chat around the event, and he will be coming to Cambuslang Lawn Tennis Club this year to run some free tennis events.

“He also mentioned that after having such a fantastic Davis Cup event on our door step that this will inspire local families to take up the sport.”
