Targets set for Glens players

-

Willie Harvey has told his Glencairn players to prepare themselves for a tough few days.

Over the course of the next week, the side have three games scheduled, starting with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy at home tonight (Wednesday, kick off 6.45pm).

This Saturday, April 25, they travel to face Maybole Juniors, before taking on Cumbernauld away next Monday night.

Boss Willie said: “We’re coming into a really heaving schedule, starting on Wednesday with Roy Roy.

“I’ve got a points total in my head - which I’m not going to share - that I’d like to see us achieve, and we’ll see how it goes from there.

“We are now setting the players targets, and we’ve told them that.

“I think we’re now safe in this division, as I don’t see a team going down if they have 33 points.

“So now, we want to move up, and our next objective is to finish third and get the play-off spot.

“It will be interesting to see where we are after these next three games.

“If all goes well and we move up to third, then we will set out sights on finishing second.

“The boys are achieving the targets we’re settting them, so we need to set new targets.”

Something Willie is ready for are injuries, as the hectic schedule is expected to take its toll on his side.

He explained: “We all know that at this stage of the season, with so many games coming so quick and so fast, we’re going to pick up injuries and suspensions.

“That’s always the case at this time of year.

“We’ve fortunate we’ve got the back-up of our under-21s side.

“They are a very young -21s side, but we know there’s at least three or four of them who are more than capable of making the step up just now, and coming in to do a job for us.

“For the midweek games just now, we’re missing MarcRussell, as he’s working down south, but he’s back up for the Saturday games, which is fine.”
