Cycling festival fun for all
CamGlen Bike Town will hold a cycling festival in Overtoun Park on Saturday, July 11.
The event aims to promote and celebrate the“fabulousness of cycling, to appeal to all types of cyclists; young and old, newbies and veterans, sports and everyday cyclists, and the not-yet-discoveredhow-brilliant-it-is non-cyclists.“
There will be a gala-day type atmosphere with community information stalls and cycle-related events on offer.
The CamGlen Bike Town team will be available with information and advice and community organisations invited include Friends of Overtoun Park, Overtoun Community Growing Group, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Go Bike cycle campaigning group. It is hoped music will be provided by CamGlen Radio.
Children aged eight years and over will be able to have a go at BMX cycling, thanks to local extreme sports project Radworx, who are running a workshop at the BMX track from 11am-3pm, with all equipment provided.
Activities on offer include how to use the track when racing, doing a jump class on one of the jumps, mini competitions throughout the day, with a final race to finish.
Free cycling goodies will be provided to the first 50 people who arrive by bike.
