Citizens Advice continues to reach out

- Will Henshaw

Rutherglen and Cambuslang Citizens Advice Bureau are continuing to provide their much needed outreach service across the community.

This involves a volunteer from the CAB setting up in a location in the community to offer the same service that is available in their main office in Cambuslang Main Street. We reported last week that since it’s inception almost 3,600 people had attended the outreach facilities.

The Rutherglen and Cambuslang CAB deploy the outreach programme in nine locations throughout the area.

Unless stated, the outreach centres are a drop-in service, with no appointment required.

The outreach at Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre on Belmont Road runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am until noon and 1pm until 3pm.

The outreach at Cathkin Braes Tenants co-op at 28 Skye Road runs on Fridays from 10am until 1pm.

The outreach at Fernhill Community Centre at 12 Auchenlarie Drive is from 10am until 3pm every Monday.

The outreach service at the Aspire Business Centre at 16 Farmeloan Road runs every Tuesday from 10am until 1pm and from 2pm until 4pm. It also runs on Wednesday from 9am until noon and from 2pm until 4pm. This Outreach Service is by appointment only.

The Spittal Community Centre outreach at 2 Carrick Road runs on Thursdays from 10am until 2pm.

The Springhall Community Centre outreach at 50 Cruachan Road runs on Wednesday from 10am until 2pm.

The Westburn Community Hall outreach on 27 Northbank Avenue runs every Tuesday from 10am until 1pm.

The Burnhill Sports Centre outreach runs every Thursday from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

There is an outreach at Rutherglen Health Centreon Fridays from 10am until 4pm. This Outreach Service is by appointment only through the GP Surgery.

The Rutherglen and Cambuslang CAB has drawn praise from various people for their hard work and highly successful outreach programme.

Rutherglen MP Margaret Ferrier previously told the Reformer:“Having personal experience of volunteering with CAB, I know that they provide a very valuable service and real help and advice.

“I’m seeing many welfarerelated cases coming into my office and I am glad that the CAB exists to offer complimentary advice to my public surgeries.”
