Monday night’s George Adams game was cancelled due to heavy rain at 7pm.

Typically the sun was out 20 minutes later and a group went out to play a fun bounce game.

A few ladies ties started in the rain and a decent number of spectators took shelter in the lounge to watch events unfolding.

In the Rutherglen and District games on Tuesday night Kirkhill scored two wins against Cambuslang, teams were skipped by Gerry Ritchie and John Lowe.

On Wednesday morning Ronnie Wilson’s Senior’s rink won convincingly against Mount Florida making it one game apiece on the day.

On Friday the Harry Noble winners were Michael Dooley, Alex Smith and George Lowe.

On Sunday afternoon the Kirkhill greens saw the 2-4-2 mixed game played out in beautiful weather .

The 2-4-2 format is an unusual one because the skip changes every end that is played.

The first player in the team plays two bowls then the second plays four bowls and the first player then finishes off with the final two bowls of the end.

In the second end the lead and skip swap positions and play 2-4-2 as before.

The great advantage of this is that both players have a chance to lead and to skip.

Hugh McNulty aided by Pat organise the event and teams play a round robin set of games. It’s a real fun game and to add to the interest there is a tea break a raffle with 18 prizes donated this year and fish suppers from a local supplier at close of play.

The winners on the day were Rennie Dobinson and Christine McLeod. The booby prize of a bouquet of rhubarb and two tins of custard went to Peter and Margaret Mullen.

The entry form for the next 2- 4- 2 is already up and further entries are welcomed.

Good news for members is that the roofing materials for the new shelter have arrived and work to convert the “solarium” roofless shelter into a rain shelter will begin soon on the East Green.
