Time to spring into action this Easter
Put a spring in your step this Easter with a range of family friendly activities taking place throughout Lanarkshire.
The diverse calendar of events includes Easter egg hunts, rubber ducks races and feeding new born spring lambs.
What better way to welcome in Easter than with the annual Easter egg hunt at the David Livingston Centre, which is currently undergoing a £3.5 million renovation, running from 25-28 March. Participants will be presented with a number of clues and puzzles to complete to claim the cherished Cadbury’s chocolate egg prize. Hunts are £2 each and with no two alike visitors can come back again and again.
Throughout the Easter holidays the award winning New Lanark Visitor Centre will be running a series of kids’ craft workshops, from Easter headdresses to bunting and a springtime puppet theatre. Workshops are £3 per child and run from 1-3 pm throughout the holidays. For a less conventional Easter activity people can head down to New Lanark for their charity rubber duck race. On March 27 to 28 hundreds of yellow ducks will be seen making their way down the Mill Lade. For £2 per duck entrants will have a chance to win a prize, with all proceeds going to the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
Those looking for a more authentic wildlife experience can head along to Palacerigg Country Park for their annual Spring Fling on March 27 to 28. Visitors to this stunning park will be able see new born spring lambs as well as enjoy pony rides, farm tours and treasure hunts.
Those who want to take advantage of the milder weather can go for a walk or a bike ride along one of Lanarkshire’s beautiful nature trails. Some of the highlights at the 500 year old Dalzell House include the Baron Haugh’s Nature Reserve, Japanese Gardens as well as several different species including woodpeckers and deer. At New Lanark there is seven mile route along smooth terrain from New Lanark to the Falls of Clyde where visitors can enjoy spectacular views of waterfalls and peregrine falcons.
