Warning to be on look out for counterfeit notes
Shoppers and businesses in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being urged be extra vigilant of counterfeit notes.
Lanarkshire Police say counterfeit £20 notes are in circulation within the division area, with dodgy currency discovered at three premises in St Leonard’s, East Kilbride, alone.
Local officers are carrying out enquiries to trace the person responsible, but have advised businesses to ensure staff are checking all notes when taking payment.
Officers have also asked the public to contact them with any information they have regarding this matter on the non-emergency number 101, or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
