Barking great fun at park
It was a dog’s life at Overtoun Park earlier this month.
But rather than being in the dog house, residents were able to enjoy the first ever Bark in the Park event run by Friends of Overtoun Park.
Late summer sunshine added to the occasion as over 250 people turned out on the day.
Over 90 dogs took part in a variety of competitions, including: doggy dash, best young handler, best puppy, best veteran dog, best dog (aged two to eight),‘leave the sausage’and dog/owner lokkalike before the event finished with a doggy parade around the park.
First, second, third and fourth place winners won a rosette along with doggy treats courtesy of Tesco Burnside.
Friends of Overtoun Park provided water for the dogs and free doggy treats.
There was also a competitions for the children: cutest cuddly toy, most unusual cuddly toy and the oldest cuddly toy.
Thirty-seven children took part and the winners were awarded a box of chocolates.
Friends of Overtoun Park’s Elaine Devlin said:“A huge thank you to Tesco Burnside for their generous donation of prizes; dog treats and boxes of chocolates for the winners.
“Thanks to Karen Jarvie, Tesco community colleague, who gave up her afternoon to judge all the competitions and help entertain the crowds alongside Friends of Overtoun Park MC Alistair Fulton.”
