A Christmas fair will be held in Fernhill and Cathkin Church this Saturday, November 26, at 10am.

It will run until 2pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

A Christmas Carol concert featuring The Erskine Community Choir will be held at the church on Thursday December 8 at 7pm.

Admission is £5 per adult or £2.50 for children, including supper. To mark St Columbkill­e’s return to the church they have printed a welcome leaflet to tell visitors about the services in the parish. It is also intended to update the parish records by asking parishione­rs to provide details of family members living at their home address. St Columbkill­e’s will hold a mission week beginning on Saturday, November 26. The church’s craft group meet in the hall from 11am until 1pm to do knitting, crochet and sewing. The charismati­c prayer group continues to meet every Wednesday between 7 and 8.30pm.

Tea In The Hall will be taking place after 10am Mass, on weekdays, Monday to Friday.

On offer will be a hot cup of tea or coffee and a delicious roll and bacon or sausage.

All proceeds go towards keeping the church hall functionin­g. Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe is open on Wednesdays from 10am-noon. This will now also include entertainm­ent. Fresh from his appearance­s at the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall during the summer, Graham Macgregor will provide laughter as he performs his well-loved usherette sketch. The entertainm­ent will be at 11am. King’s Park Parish Church have a range of activities on offer over the next week. These include: Zumba class, caterpilla­r music, mother and toddlers group, mixed badminton, messy church, community cafe, God Tok, pathfinder­s, carpet bowls and youth club. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open from noon until 2pm each Thursday, when anyone is welcome to visit and find out about the church’s 1400-year history. Burnside Blairbeth church run a special service on the first Saturday of every month in the Rodger Memorial building in Kirkriggs Avenue. Messy Church is aimed at families. It starts with an hour of crafts and games and is followed by a celebratio­n with a Bible story and singing, finishing with a two-course meal. Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. Soup, pizza and pavlova will be available on Fridays from 6-8pm along with some live music.

The church have also recently launched Star Wars Sundays.

They will be looking at the films of the popular sci-fi series and how the stories in them can help explore faith.

The last Sundays of November, January, February, March, April and May will be the film showings in the afternoon. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe@The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am-2.30pm. Tea and coffee are available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. Stonelaw Church have also started holding 30 minute services in the Meeting Place on the first Wednesday of every month. They have also expanded their popular acoustic nights at the Meeting Place. They will now be having Acoustic Sundays once a month.

And the church will also hold a children’s holiday club event on Saturday December 10.

All Wrapped Up will run from Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s garden team meet every Saturday morning from 9.30am until noon. Their weekly friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am-noon. St Oswald’s Church are continuing to push ahead with their plans for a men’s shed. The hope is the shed can become a space for men in the community to meet and use.
