Shocking price of Scottish football

-

Scottish football continues to be overpriced in comparison with top leagues throughout Europe.

And it might come as a shock that Valencia, Marseille, Schalke and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon and Porto all offer matchday tickets cheaper than Queen’s Park and Clyde. So we decided to take a closer look into how much it would cost to support both a junior or senior team in your area, following the BBC’s release of their annual Price of Football study.

Senior

The good news is that Queen’s Park offer the cheapest matchday ticket in the Scottish Professional Football League.

A brief to watch Gus MacPherson’s Spiders is £12, a figure matched by several teams in League One and League Two but not bettered.

The bad news, according to the study, is that they have one of the most expensive cups of tea at £2.30.

But they also offer the cheapest season ticket in their division at £160.

On the other hand Clyde’s cheapest season ticket price stands at £166.25, with £175 for the dearest.

It will cost you £13 for a matchday brief at Broadwood and a pie and cup of tea are pirced at £2 and £1.50.

A Clyde matchday programme costs £2.50 while their replica shirts will set you back £32.50, compared to Queen’s £35 hooped top.

Juniors

Rutherglen Glencairn do not offer season tickets but their current membership price is £ 65 for the season, with half-price for concessions.

General matchday tickets cost £6 for adults and £3 for concessions, while a pie and a cup of soup will cost you just £2 altogether.

Just a few miles away at Somervell, Cambuslang Rangers sell their season tickets at £50, which include 13 league matches and two Sectional Cup games.

A casual fan can walk into Somervell for £5 and a concession ticket is sold at £2.50.

One matchday programme, a pie, Bovril or tea are all fairly priced at £1 each.

Neither junior club stocks their own replica shirts for supporters but they can be ordered on request.
