‘Sex seat’in charity shop

Concerned shoppers reported a Cambuslang charity shop for selling what they described as a “sex seat”.

The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice store on Main Street had a black and purple chair in their shop window for £60.

A spokesman for the charity said: “We were called to collect this item of furniture from an address in the local area. It was put up for sale in good faith and has now been removed.” A 75-year-old man has been told to stay clear of a 19-year-old librarian for five years after he admitting to harassing her at her work.

Joseph Ferns from Croftfoot Road, Croftfoot, pled guilty to causing the employee at Castlemilk Library to suffer fear or alarm between July 1 and August 13, 2016.

He admitted to several counts of harassment including touching her on the body and sending letters and other items to her which contained written comments which indicated he knew where she lived and personal circumstan­ces.

Ferns repeatedly attended the library, loitered outside it, telephoned to speak to the woman and uttered inappropri­ate comments towards her.

The accused pled guilty to the charges including trying to attempt to engage her in conversati­on and refusing to desist when requested to do so.

He was handed a non-harassment order of five years when he attended Glasgow Sheriff Court on January 25. A Rutherglen man has been fined £180 for having an illegal drug on his possession.

James Weldon of Limeside Avenue, had 6-Monoacetyl­morphine on his person at Western Avenue on February 4, 2016.

The 38-year-old was fined when he pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court on January 31.

6-Monoacetyl­morphine is one of three active metabolite­s of heroin.
