Rutherglen Reformer

Week on Facebook

-

There was plenty of chat on our social medai sites this week.

A popular topic is always how to improve our main streets and our special report on Cambuslang last week got you talking.

Here’s what you had to say:

“They’ve improved parking? No, ever since they changed the parking to what it is now it’s worse. Then they have slowly but surely painted double yellow lines everywhere. It’s a nightmare.” - Sharon Ezziane

“Put some decent shops on the Main Street; it’s full of food takeaway shops, hairdressers and pubs with another pizza place opening soon. You can’t even buy an apple.”- Jennifer Adams

“We could do with a Papa John’s pizza place to complete the trilogy.”- John Robert Creighton

“Taking away so much of the parking behind the Farmfoods was really a huge mistake, they cut parking in half and put a limit on the time of one hour which is ridiculous.

“You can rarely get a space in the other part as that is where people who work in Cambuslang or get the train to town have to park.

“They certainly need to do something with parking but it is not the only thing.”Elaine Nicol

“Sick of more takeaways. “Try bringing some proper shops to the area. Rutherglen shops are even better than ours.”- Therese Louise Tweedlie

“I don’t see why the council don’t reduce the rent in shops by half, even for the first year to get shops in.

“Lots of people have been saying the rents are to high. So would it not make sense to get half rent rather than none?”- Gail Ross

“More interested in creating those ruddy cycle lanes.”- Debbie Scoular
