King’s Park gets ready for frock swap
Members of King’s Park Church are ready to get their glad rags on - with a help from the rest of the congregation.
The church will hold it’s annual Frock Swap on Saturday, February 11.
Congregation members will get the opportunity to swap unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories over tea, coffee and other refreshments.
Now in its third year, the event has proved a real hit.
Last year they raised £ 2200 for Alzheimer’s Scotland and Children 1st.
This year, organisers hope to smash that figure for Glasgow Women’s Aid.
Lorraine Pratt, who has put the event together, said: “This is the third time we’ve done this and we’ve done really well.
“We try to keep the charities local and this year we’ve picked Glasgow Women’s Aid.
“It’s an extremely worthwhile, Glasgow-based charity and as women ourselves it’s something that is very close to our heart.”
I’d love to beat £2200. You’ve got to have a target and that’s something we can work toward.”
There are still tickets left for the event, which cost £ 10. People can show up on the night or get in touch with the church.
Anyone going along is asked to bring their own bottle.
The swap ensures old clothes have an extended shelf life.
Lorraine said: “They call it upcycling now.
“It’s always a fabulous night. Lots of work goes into it but it’s really good fun.”
The frock swap takes place in the church hall on Castlemilk Road. People are asked to be there for 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
