Lang back to winning ways

-

Cambuslang jersey.

With five minutes left of the half, the home side doubled their lead. Halliday picked the ball up just inside his own half and burst forward and from about 35 yards unleashed a beauty of a shot that flew into the net. There was very little the Vale keeper could do.

Cambuslang were dominating possession in the second half as Vale huffed and puffed and were reliant on the long ball up field that caused Cambuslang problems at times, but keeper Iain Stewart was on hand to clear any danger.

The wee Gers grabbed a third on 62 minutes. The visitors were unable to clear their lines and this gave Kilmartin a sight at goal and he made no mistake from close range squeezing the ball home just inside the post.

A couple of changes saw Gormley come on for Nolan and Houston for Gemmell. There was also the welcome return of Jamie MacLeod to the Lang side who had been missing for a few weeks due to work commitments.

The rout was completed on 88 minutes when Simeon grabbed his 20th of the season. Lang were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and the midfielder stepped up and fired past the wall and the keeper for a fine finish.

The home side almost grabbed a consolation in stoppage time but sub Dempsey saw his effort come back off the cross bar.

Cambuslang Rangers: Stewart, Kerr, Halliday, Nolan (Gormley 66), Bishop, Scott, Bohme (MacLeod 77), Simeon, Gemmell (Houston 66), Kilmartin, Hastings.
