Leeanne and Lauren dropTEN dress sizes
A stunning Castlemilk couple worked together to lose a combined 12stones 2lbs to look and feel amazing on their wedding day.
Leeanne Laird and Lauren McCloskey dropped 10 dress sizes between them after joining Slimming World just 18 months ago.
The girls fell in love eight years earlier when they met at work and Leeanne, then 20, was a size 16 and Lauren, 26, a size 18.
Despite their size, it was love at first sight and they found each other funny and attractive from the start.
But in 2015, the pair were eating unhealthily as Lauren worked long hours in between studying and Leeanne had lost motivation and was suffering from a lack of energy.
Confidence of both the girls had started taking a massive hit, they were feeling fat and frumpy and hiding behind larger clothes.
Leeanne wanted a change and joined her local Slimming World group in Castlemilk, led by Stephanie Maley.
She said: “I have suffered with anxiety for years and in most cases would have been put off by groups, but I explained this to Stephanie who accommodated for this the best she could to ensure I felt supported and safe at group getting the help I needed to lose weight.”
Leeanne followed Slimming Worlds’ food optimising healthy eating plan and lost 7 1/2 lbs in her first two weeks at group.
“I was eating curries, burgers, sausages and chips, losing weight every week eating real food,” Leeanne said.
Lauren was starting to notice how well Leeanne was doing and wanted to start losing some weight too. But, with no time to go to group, she followed alongside Leeanne at home.
“Together we planned meals and our shopping better and we ate ourself slim with unlimited foods,” Leeanne added.
“We started seeing each other in ways we hadn’t before. After over eight years together we were now slimmer, sexier and much happier and healthier than we had ever been and we did it together”
The girls took a trip to Amsterdam to celebrate how amazing they were doing where Leeanne popped the question, and planning for their wedding gave the pair the final push to reach their target weights.
Lauren went from a dress size 18 to an eight, losing an eight stone 2lb and Leeanne has gone from dress size 16 to a six, losing a total of four stone.
“We couldn’t have got to target and enjoyed our wedding without the group’s support and the family and friends who attend group helping us along the way,” Leeanne said. “Most of all we have to thank Stephanie for being there for us 52 weeks of the year.”
