Rutherglen Glencairn have strength and depth in their squad which has seen them perform well in all competitions this season.
Here we take a look at some of the key players who could play an important part in Sunday’s final.
Chris Truesdale
Age: 20 Position: Goalkeeper Previous clubs: Celtic, Hamilton Academical Goals: N/A Profile: His co-manager Alex McArthur rates him as the best goalkeeper in the west of Scotland. And it’s hard to question why with the youngster’s phenomenal handling, kicking and great positional sense. The shot-stopper, who has one year left at under 21 football, will play a vital role in trying to keep out Barrhead’s attacking force.
Euan Conroy
Age: 22 Position: Defender Previous club: Partick Thistle Goals:0
Profile: Rutherglen man Euan is the club captain and has made over 116 appearances in a Glens shirt in a five year period. Described as a rock at the back by his coaches, the former Thistle man has pace to keep up with speedy strikers and is strong in the tackle.
Anton Phinn
Age: 19 Position: Midfielder
Previous clubs: Collville Park, Queen’s Park. Goals: 29 Profile: The teenager is a promising talent imbedded in the team’s central midfield area and is likely to be one to watch for the opposition. He is capable of both scoring the spectacular and has the energy to find an accurate pass in the final stages of matches. Anton, who recently had a trial with Dundee, has bags of ability mixed with confidence which could give Glencairn the edge on Sunday.
Njablo Ndlovu
Age: 22 Position: Midfielder
Previous clubs: Finnart , East Stirlingshire, Maryhill Goals: 13
Profile: Njablo, or Jabs as he is known by his teammates, is highly regarded by his coaches and is described as a midfield power house.
His name will ring a bell with Glens fans as he has featured for the first team in a handful of matches this season. Notably, the future star had a great performance against Clydebank.
The talented central midfielder can be thrown into any situation and dominates a midfield whilst also being great in the air.
The under 21s will be sad to see him move on next season.
