Rutherglen Reformer

Neighbourhood makeover

- Murray Spooner

The people of Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being urged to nominate their community for a well-deserved makeover.

A search is on to find the community in the UK that is most in need of a helping hand which will see a lucrative regeneration project commence.

In the past few months residents have criticised the look of Cambuslang Main Street and Springhall residents say the area is in need of major investment.

And members of the public in both towns have been given the chance to submit details of an area which deserves a makeover.

Michael Holton, brand manager for Wall’s Pastry, who are running the initiative, said:“There are a number of areas within every community that have a strong standing to people of all ages however, are often expensive or difficult to maintain.

“We’re keen to lend a helping hand and discover what areas could really benefit residents and make a real difference to locals by a bit of TLC. It could even be a local hero, someone who makes a difference day in day out that deserves something back.”

The winning project will see the renovation programme take place over a period of five days by a team of‘handy helpers’.

Entries close on Monday, July 17 and will be decided by a panel of independent judges. To nominate, visit www. wallshelpinghand.co.uk.
