Upheaval ontrains

Train passengers in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being reminded engineerin­g works could affect journeys over the next two Sundays.

Work has already been taking place between Glasgow Central and Motherwell over the past two weeks.

On May 14 and 21 buses will replace trains on all services between Glasgow Central and Motherwell.

Trains between Glasgow Central and Lanark will be diverted via Cathcart making journey times longer.

On Balloch – Larkhall services, trains will run between Balloch and Rutherglen with buses between Bridgeton and Larkhall.

Milngavie – Motherwell trains will be diverted via Whifflet and buses will run between Bridgeton and Motherwell via Hamilton.

Finally, trains on the Newton line leaving at 36 minutes past the hour from Glasgow will be extended to Larkhall via Hamilton, while trains at nine minutes past will start back from Larkhall and run to Glasgow via Hamilton.

ScotRail is warning people to plan ahead and check their journey on their app or at www. scotrail.co.uk.

A ScotRail Alliance spokesman said: “These are vital works and we are doing everything we can to keep our customers moving during them.

“We appreciate their patience as we work to deliver a better railway for Scotland.”
