Walkers enjoy a great day out in the sunshine
Weather is kind for trip to the Pentland Hills
Cambuslang Walkers were out and about recently – and the group even had some good fortune with the weather.
The group travelled to the Pentland Hills and the forecast was for rain in the afternoon, meaning everyone in the party was well prepared with all their waterproof gear.
However, arriving at the car park the weather was quite bright although there was a bit of a cold wind.
After just over a quarter of a mile the group split up.
One group headed up the grassy slope leading to Turnhouse Hill and the remainder set off towards Glenclose Reservoir.
After reaching the summit of Turnhouse Hill this group descended a few hundred feet then climbed to the top of Carnethy Hill, and from there it was a steep descent down to the top end of Loganlea Reservoir.
Meanwhile the other group walked along the banks of Glencourse Reservoir then along the banks of Loganlea Reservoir.
As this was the easier walk this group reached the top end of the reservoir well ahead of the other group.
The weather was still quite nice and this group walked on up the valley, where they found a nice spot for lunch.
After the sandwiches had been consumed a few spots of rain dropped and the group quickly put on their waterproof trousers before retracing their way back to the end of the reservoir.
As the walkers approached the end of the reservoir the other group were also arriving down the hill.
With all the walkers reunited everybody headed back along the banks of the reservoir and fortunately the rain had come to nothing.
Before long the sun came out and the walkers enjoyed nice sunshine as they made their way back to the car park.
In fact, the weather was so nice the walkers enjoyed their social time in the garden of the Flotterstone Inn before making their journey home.
