Rossvale are hit for four

Rossvale ............ 0 Cambuslang ...... 4

- Jim Logan at New Petershill Park

Cambuslang Rangers moved to within touching distance of the Super Leagues after a comfortable victory at Rossvale.

The Lang looked like their old selves and controlled the game with the hosts failing to make many in-roads.

With only five minutes on the clock the visitors had a great chance to open the scoring but Craig Hasting’s effort went just over the bar.

John Gemmell also went close soon after as he got on the end of a Robert Halliday cross but failed to convert.

On 12 minutes the home side tested Iain Stewart but the Lang keeper pulled off a fine save from the free-kick.

Lang pressure finally paid off on 21 minutes when Gemmell rose at the back and his downward header was knocked in from close range by Thomas Kilmartin – his 15th goal of the season.

That lead was doubled when Jordan Morton fired in a cracking shot that the Vale keeper could only watch as it flew past him into the net.

Just before the break Dale Simeon got in on the scoring act with a fine individual effort. A long ball from defence was taken down by the player and with one touch he took himself away from the defenders and slid the ball under the keeper.

Cambuslang knocked the ball about in the second half and had clearly taken the foot off the gas as the intensity of the match dropped.

Simeon had a chance on 54 minutes but he fired over the bar.

The visitors were awarded a penalty with five minutes left. Gemmell was brought down by the keeper and got up to score from the spot.
