Pregnant mum‘s plea over yobs

A pregnant mum has called on people in a Rutherglen scheme to out those who petrol bombed her car.

Stephanie McLaren, who is five months pregnant and mum to a seven-year-old boy, took to social media to vent her anger at the fire set deliberate­ly in Springhall.

Stephanie’s Volkswagen Scirocco was parked outside her home on Ross Place when it was reportedly petrol bombed on Sunday night.

No one was hurt in the incident but two suspects, wearing all black, were seen fleeing the area immediatel­y after the fire took hold.

Stephanie vented her anger on Facebook, writing: “To the scumbag rat that decided to petrol bomb my car big WELL DONE... please come tell your purpose. I’m five months pregnant and live such a boring life.”

She added: “Please share this, all they have done is take a car from a wee boy that needs it for his football and me for my work.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said: “Around 11.35pm a white Volkswagen

Scirocco was deliberate­ly set alight outside a house in Ross Place, Rutherglen.

“No one was in the car at the time.

“Two men were seen running away.

“Inquiries into the incident are continuing.”

Inspector Robert Bryce, of Rutherglen Police Station, added: “Informatio­n would suggest that this was a targeted attack.

“Inquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with informatio­n relating to this incident to contact police on 101, or Crimestopp­ers anonymousl­y on 0800 555 111.”

Scottish Fire and Rescue attended to extinguish the fire.
