Summer days at Fernhill
Fernhill Primary finished off the summer in style recently with a BBQ and an outdoor fun event.
The day was held to help kick-start the new academic term, and plenty of parents and pupils came out to help celebrate it.
The day included bouncy castles and slides, merry go rounds, glitter tattoos, face painting, make-up and jewellery, while the star attraction for the younger guests had to be the riot van brought by the police.
Armed with hats and shields, the boys and girls, and some of the staff, got into character in the riot car cell.
There was also a tasty selection of food and drink available to all visitors in the shape of hot dogs, burgers, ice cream and tea, coffee and cakes in the tea room.
Of the turnout for the BBQ, Dr Laura Murphy, head teacher at Fernhill, said:“The summer BBQ and fun day is a hugely important event in our school calendar as it marks the start of another academic session and provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome our new families to the school community.
“It was very encouraging to see so many pupils and their families coming out to enjoy the activities on offer.
“The heart of Fernhill School is it’s staff, pupils and family members and it was wonderful to see them all coming together to have fun and relax.
“Fernhill School are served extremely well by a hard working PTA body and I am very grateful of the support they provide.”
