A pizza delivery driver was subjected to a horrifying attack by a gang of thugs in Toryglen at the weekend.

The 28-year-old Domino’s worker was trying to make a delivery at 1am on Sunday on Newfield Place near its junction with Corlaich Drive.

The 28-year-old Domino’s worker was trying to make a delivery at 1am on Sunday morning on Newfield Place near its junction with Corlaich Drive.

He was approached by six youths, who were accompanie­d by three females.

The youths punched and kicked the driver before stealing his baseball cap and the keys to his silver VW Polo car, which had a Domino’s logo on it, although they did not drive away with the vehicle.

They were last seen walking towards Ardnahoe Avenue.

When police arrived the victim was found with slight cuts to his face and a nose injury.

However, he did not attend hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Joshua Speers, a spokesman for Domino’s, commented: “We are unable to comment on an open investigat­ion.

“However, we are assisting the police with their inquiries on this matter.”

PC Mark McCallum at Helen Street Police Office would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or who saw the group of youths hanging around the area either before or after the robbery took place.

Anyone with informatio­n should contact the community investigat­ion unit at Helen Street Police Station via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0298 of January 14.
