What was mystery sound?

-

Our story about a strange alarm that confused residents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang had readers speculating on social media last week. Here is what you had to say: “I hear this quite often and would’ve put money on it coming from the train station as it sounds so close to us. It sounds like something from the Hunger Games.” - Lisa Macdonald

“It sounded like it was coming from BOC or Tennents.”- Janice Dunn

“I’ve heard that noise in Rutherglen twice before, once as a wee girl and once more recently.” - Yvonne McKegney

“Still a mystery, I heard it on two separate occasions.” - Tracey O’Donnell

“It happens all the time. I hear it from work when I’m leaving. It’s coming from around the Parkhead area. It’s happened at least five times in past three months.” - JulieAnn McLachlan

“It’s the wind turbine up at Castlemilk. When I used to work early shift I could here it starting up. It’s a recorded message to keep clear and plays for, like, an hour before it actually starts and then it’s like a siren that goes off. Well that’s what I got told it was.” - Melissa Sibbald

“I’m in Cambuslang and heard it several times. Can hear it echoing from over Parkhead direction. It’s creepy.” - Theresa Louise Tweedlie

“I live in Cathkin Braes and heard it through the night several times last year. It is loud, only the siren heard no voices, but does sound like it’s coming from the wind turbine area. Very creepy tho.”- Jacci Henzler

“I think in this instance it was a fire evacuation alarm at Parkhead with tannoy announcement. I’ve a friend that lives there and posted on Facebook at the time. Nearly had a heart attack and thought it was World War III.” - Elaine McShane
