Thought for the Week

-

On Christmas night my husband and I were driving to see my parents along the M74 when our car was hit completely out of the blue by another vehicle.

Miraculously we all walked away from the accident unhurt but in the aftermath shock sets in and we ask ourselves what if... What if we hadn’t been so lucky... It makes you realise quite how fragile life is and how things can completely change in an instant and that the priorities in life aren’t cars or things, it’s family and friends, people that are really precious and important and that we can take them for granted.

I want to live long enough to see and enjoy many happy and special times with my family, as well as sharing good times with friends and my church too.

How often do we hold a grudge and are angry at others for something silly?

Life is too short not to forgive and forget and although others may hurt us terribly it’s not worth cutting ourselves out of their lives.

Many of us celebrated just a few weeks ago the birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ and ultimately he came into the world to restore the relationship we have broken with God and with other people.

He came to remind us how precious and special we are to him and to remind us, through his death, that we can be forgiven and so we should forgive others too.

The Golden Rule, Jesus says in Matthew 7:12, sums it up for me: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Life can change in an instant, when we least expect it. Make sure you tell and show your friends and loved ones how special they are to you because we never know the day or the hour things may change. Rev Sandra Boyd King’s Park Church
