A Nashville band are set to make a Rutherglen appearance later this month.

Carpenter and May last toured in Scotland a few years ago when they delighted the audience at a packed Acoustic night at Stonelaw Church, and they will appear in the area again on Friday, June 22, this time at the Meeting Place at the church.

Event organiser Louise Mairs said: “We are thrilled to be hosting these phenomenal Nashville based musicians again for a night of great music.”

The band includes IBMA award winning Fred Carpenter on fiddle and vocals, who is a former member of the Dillards and Emmylou Harris’s band.

He’s joined by Tim May on guitar and vocals, who has spent over 20 years as a session musician and sideman in Nashville and was voted Best Instrumentalist by the Nashville Scene three years ago.

He has played alongside Patty Loveless and Eddie Rabbit amongst others.

Also in the band are Matt Flinner on mandolin, who is widely recognised as one of the best players and composers around and has played with Darrell Scott, Tim O’Brien, Darol Anger and also The Nashvile Chamber Orchestra.

The band are completed by Todd Phillips on bass, who has played with greats including Tony Rice, Darol Anger, Joan Baez, Del McCoury and Elvis Costello, amongst others.

The band members have all spent time in the UK both touring and teaching, most notable at the widely acclaimed Sorefingers Summer School in Oxfordshire.

The gig is a special evening event for the Acoustic night @ The Meeting Place and the ticket price of £10 includes tea/filter coffee and home made cakes.

Support comes from The Mairs Family Band, who host the evening.

There is limited seating and entry by ticket only.
