A talented young Cathkin dancer is set for a gala performance this weekend.
Olivia Pelosi, 14, will perform at the Dance School of Scotland’s annual showcase, called The Cosmos, at the Theatre Royal on Friday and Saturday.
The promising teenager is in her second year at the Dance School and her proud mum Jenny will be cheering her on.
She said: “They have just finished all their exams and have been rehearsing for the Theatre Royal throughout April and May, so it is quite an intense period for them – they usually rehearse each day until seven at night.
“Olivia is loving it so far though, because this is what she wants to do.
“She loves performing, particularly the ballet and contemporary styles of dance, and she is getting a chance to do that.
“The showcase will be all different types of dance, showing what they have been learning all year.
“It has a space theme, so it will be about astronomy and the signs of the zodiac.
“I can’t wait to see her. It is so exciting to see them perform in the Theatre Royal, and she has gained a lot of confidence since she started.”
Along with Jenny, Olivia will be cheered on by dad David and her brothers Luke and twins Max and Guy.
The Dance School of Scotland is the country’s only fully funded centre of excellence for vocational dance and musical theatre.
The school is funded by the Scottish Executive and is incorporated into Knightswood Secondary School in the West End of Glasgow.
The showcase takes place on Friday at 1.30pm and again at 7.30pm, then on Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets prices vary, but start at £13 for the shows.
