The Reformer has teamed up with respected Rutherglen family butcher James Campbell in an exciting new weekly competition that’s a cut above.

Every week, one lucky reader will win a £20 voucher to spend in the popular Rutherglen Exchange shop, which is renowned for its quality produce and friendly, efficient service.

James Campbell Butchers, which was established in 1834, has long been synonymous with hearty, traditional Scottish favourites.

Now, manager Gordon McIntyre has explained that they are extending their range of healthier options to cater for shoppers who are keeping an eye on their waistline and adopting healthier eating habits.

Their Healthy Option range, which gets the thumbs up from slimming clubs, comprises tasty ready-to-cook mains, including Caribbean chicken fillets.

For the cook who wants to create the wow factor without the fuss, James Campbell offers oven-ready sausage meat nests in a tasty barbecue sauce, filled with cheese and spring onion.

In the butcher’s chilled cabinet, shoppers can also select from a range of tasty side dishes, including perfectly seasoned prepared potatoes and peppers.

The Health Options range is also sold in McColl’s supermarket in Halfway.

With the onset of colder, darker evenings, James Campbell’s steak and steak and sausage pies – which come in portions for two or for families – are gaining popularity.

The spacious shop in Rutherglen Exchange Shopping Centre also stocks pulses and spices, sauces and soups, as well as a market-style stall groaning with fresh fruit and vegetables and prepared soup ingredients.

“What we offer here is good quality produce that is reasonably priced,” explained store manager, Gordon.

“We have a very friendly team who are also very knowledgeable. If there is something they don’t know, they will ask me, or my colleague John Bell.”

To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is find our little Butcher Boy hidden on a page in this week’s paper then complete the coupon on the right and return it to: James Campbell Butcher Competition, Rutherglen Reformer, One Central Quay, Glasgow G3 8DA.

All entries must be received by 4pm on Monday. Photocopies will not be accepted.
