The region’s stamp collection group recently hosted another vintage display.
Lanarkshire Philatelic Society held a meeting last Friday evening where member Walter Tytherleigh gave a postcard display entitled ‘Weimar Republic’.
He gave a presentation featuring many fascinating German postcards following the end of the First World War up until 1930.
The first cards viewed were of the train in the Forest of Compiègne where the Armistice was signed, coming into effect on November 11, 1918.
Other historical postcards were displayed which gave members an idea of the great political upheaval that happened in Germany after WWI and the Treaty of Versailles being signed.
David Haig led group members in thanking Walter Tytherleigh for presenting such an interesting array of postcards not generally seen.
The philatelic society next meets in the Caledonian Bowling Club, Hamilton, on Friday, November 2 at 7.30pm.
Anyone with an interest in stamps, postal history, postcards etc is welcome to attend.
